Quiet and Calm, Tonga Awakes to Women’s Development Course

A peaceful, small, friendly island in the South Pacific, famous for being a paradise conducive to rest and relaxation; from Wednesday 9th to Wednesday 16th December, Tonga was a place of hard work, learning, dedication and commitment.
Organised under the direction of the ITTF Development Programme, participants took part in an ITTF funded Women’s Development course. The course included an ITTF/PTT Level One Coaches Course, a Training Camp as well as a local tournament.
The course was held at the TASANOC (Tonga Association of Sport and National Olympic Committee) headquarters in Nuku’alofa, the capital, with participants coming from various villages around the country.
Some participants had strong table tennis backgrounds, others worked with the Ministry of Sport to develop and increase levels of participation in sports in local communities and villages. Over half of the participants were female.
