Sometimes dreams do come true. Carolyn Li will soon be fulfilling a lifelong goal when she steps out on to the court for Team Fiji at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

Speaking to The Fiji Times, Li said that her dream is about to turn in to a reality.

“It is always my dream to play in the Commonwealth Games.ย Now the dream has come true. I am living the dream now.” Carolyn Li

Li will be celebrating her twenty-forth birthday one week out from the Games. Walking out at the Opening Ceremony for Team Fiji will be late birthday present for Li.

But it’s not all rainbows and butterflies. The reality of preparing for the global sporting event is that a lot of hours have to be spent on the table.

“We have been having tough training sessions every day to prepare for the Commonwealth Games,” said Li. “Apart from game practise sessions, we also undergo physical training such as running to get fit, and endurance training.”

Li’s table tennis life is’t just out on the court. Not only is she an athlete, she is also contributing her time to helping support the Fiji Table Tennis Association and also serving on the Management Committee for ITTF-Oceania. But right now the Games are taking top priority.

“I have slowly moved into the administrative part for Fiji Table Tennis, but this year being the Commonwealth Games, I want to come out as the best Fiji table tennis player,” said Li.
