Teng Teng Liu serving up a win at the ITTF-Oceania Tour | New Zealand.

Teng Teng Liu and Jian Fang Lay have come away crowned champions at the ITTF-Oceania Tour | New Zealand, staged in Christchurch from the 10-11 November. Both finals saw grudge matches between Oceania rivals Australia and New Zealand, with the countries sharing the spoils.

In the Men’s Singles final Teng Teng Liu saw off the tour’s most active athlete, Rohan Dhooria. It was a dominant display by the powerful Kiwi, winning 4-1 (6, 5, -9, 5, 2).It was deja vu for Dhooria, who made an appearance in the final of the Tahiti leg of the tour just one week earlier, where he also came away with second place.

With the win Liu has set himself on pace to qualify for his first ever ITTF-Oceania Cup.

In the Women’s Singles it was smooth sailing for Australia’s Jian Fang Lay. The Aussie progressed all the way to the final without dropping a game, where she metย New Zealand’s Jenny Hung. The match was one way traffic and Lay proved once again why she is Oceania’s number one athlete, taking the titleย 4-0 (2, 3, 8, 7).

The win sends Lay ย to the top of the ITTF-Oceania Tour Standings, where she joins Fiji’s Sally Yee in pole position, and is a certainty to be appearing in Bora Bora next year for the 2019 ITTF-Oceania Cup.
