The Australia team will have some gold to declare at customs after picking up two titles at the PTT Korea Open yesterday.
Nathan Pellissier backed up his win just days ago in Chinese Taipei by taking out the Class 8 Men’s Singles title in Mungyeong. He had to come through two five game encounters on his way to the final where he faced Lam Ka Wai (HKG). Once again the match went the full distance and the Aussie again found himself on the better end, winning gold 3-2 (-8, 10, 4, -9, 6). Pellissier will definitely be hitting the ice-baths for some serious recovery after those marathon matches.
Meanwhile, Melissa Tapper kept things classy and defended her No.1 seeding, winning the the Class 10 Women’s Singles, without dropping a game. However for Sam Von Einem it was silver as he saw a 2-0 lead in the final of the Class 11 Men’s Singles disappear as crowd favourite Kim Gi Tae (KOR) came from behind to snatch gold from the No.1 seed.
To complete the set of medals, Daniela Di Toro bagged herself a bronze medal in the Class 4-5 Women’s Singles, going down to eventual winner Kang Oejeong (KOR) in the semifinal stage.
The tournament continues with the team events kicking off today.
