President of the New Caledonia Table Tennis Association since 2000, Patrick Gillmann has announced his candidacy for a position on the ITTF Executive Committee; a position he was first elected to in 2013.
The elections for the positions of ITTF Executive Vice President, of which there are eight, will take place during the ITTF elections held during the Annual General Assembly in Dusseldorf, Germany on 31st May this year. The Annual General Assembly will take place alongside the World Table Tennis Championships in the German city.
Prior to being elevated to the ITTF Executive Committee, Patrick Gillmann held the position of President with the Oceania Table Tennis Federation from 2004-2014, a ten-year period which saw the finalisation of full membership of all possible countries and territories within the region.
Under the leadership of Patrick Gillmann, New Caledonia has hosted the 2000 Oceania Championships, and more recently the 2013 ITTF-Oceania Junior Championships. In addition to the continental championships, the 2008 Oceania Olympic Games Qualification Tournament took place in Noumea, the capital city of New Caledonia; as well as two World Junior Circuit events, taking place in 2004 and 2013 respectively.
In addition to playing a major role in hosting international events within New Caledonia, Patrick Gillmann has also played major roles at some of the world’s biggest table tennis events, including being a member of the Jury at the Athens 2004, Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympic Games.
