Welcome to Bendigo, and let the games begin!

The K-Sports 2013 ITTF-Oceania Cup staged their Opening Ceremony at the Bendigo Stadium Sky Lounge on the evening of Saturday 29th June 2013.

Councillor Lisa Ruffell, Mayor of Greater Bendigo, welcomed the athletes, officials and dignitaries to Greater Bendigo. "It is fantastic to welcome all visitors to Greater Bendigo, and we look forward to providing excellent hospitality for our international guests."

The table tennis community was welcomed to the K-Sports 2013 ITTF-Oceania Cup by the International Table Tennis Federation's Executive Vice-President, Mr Patrick Gillmann. "The K-Sports 2013 ITTF-Oceania Cup has been in the making for over 12 months, and it is with great pleasure that I welcome everybody to the event, and I wish the athletes the best success during the competition."

Following the formalities of the opening ceremony, the live draw for the event was staged, and if results go according to seeds, we will see a rematch of the 2012 ITTF-Oceania Cup Semi-final, between number one seed of Australia, William Henzell, and New Zealand's leading male Phillip Xiao is looking forward to the opportunity for revenge "playing against Henzell is always going to be tough but you have to beat the best to win the tournament."

Joining in the festivities of the draw, were Mr Fred Woo of K-Sports, as well as the Table Tennis Australia President, Mr Will Goodier.

Following the conclusion of the draw, the Master of Ceremonies, Anne Henshall, wished the athletes "Double Happiness all around."

About the K-Sports 2013 ITTF-Oceania Cup

The ITTF-Oceania Cup is the premier Table Tennis event on the ITTF-Oceania calendar.The event sees a total prize pool of over AU$20,000, with the Men's and Women's Champion gaining entry into their respective World Cup.

The K-Sports 2013 ITTF-Oceania Cup will be staged at the Bendigo Stadium from 30 June – 2 July. Tickets are on sale now through the Bendigo Visitors Centre.
