Cook Islands train new Umpires in lead up to Junior Events

The Cook Islands Table Tennis Association for the first time hosted an ITTF international table tens event, in the form of the Cook Islands Junior & Cadet Open, as part of the ITTF Global Junior Circuit. In addition to hosting this event, they also played host for the Nanjing 2014 Oceania Qualification Event, and the Road to Nanjing 2014 World Qualification Event. To top it all off, they also hosted Oceania qualification events for the ITTF World Junior Championships, and the ITTF World Cadet Challenge.
Prior to the events taking place, an ITTF Basic Certified Umpires Course took place, to assist with local officials to up skill their knowledge to be suitable for international competitions. The course took place over three days, and saw six participants from four different islands; namely Aitutaki, Mangaia, Mauke and Rarotonga. Following the course all participants had gained a greater understanding of the Rules and Regulations of table tennis, and had the opportunity to put their newly learned knowledge to the test by umpiring at the series of international junior events that took place in Rarotonga.
