Trevor Hirth is in to the final day of competition at the ITTF PTT Hungarian Open.

Today will see Australia’s Hirth competing in the semi-final of the Class 6-7 team event alongside France’s Esteban Herrault.

The Australian/French combination was unable to defeat the Romania/Israel team, but with a 2-1 win against Austria/Nigeria, they secured their spot in the semi-final.

“I lost a thriller five setter against the Class 7 gold medalist at this event. It was definitely one that got away. But it was a great game with a decent sized crowd getting in to the action,” said Hirth.

The semi-final against Slovakia gets underway at 11:00am local time (GMT+1).

“We’re guaranteed a medal, it’s just the colour to be decided. Anything is possible.”
