The 2017 ITTF-Oceania Hopes Week & Challenge is currently underway in Tweed Heads, Australia. While the region has been hit with the worst floods it’s seen in over fifty years, the young table tennis players have braced the weather and are making sure to benefit from everything the week has to offer.

Training sessions and coach education are carried out for the first five days of the event with Joze Urh (SLO) and Cathy Gauthier (NCL) the experts on duty. It is the perfect chance to see the where the Oceania region will be heading in the next decade as the Hopes players move up the junior and then senior ranks.

On the final day the young athletes will then pit their skills against each other in a tournament. The winner of the ITTF-Oceania Hopes Week & Challenge Boy’s Singles and Girl’s Singles events will receive the one quota place assigned to Oceania for the 2017 ITTF World Hopes Week & Challenge. It’s a big prize that could easily kickstart a young table tennis player’s career.
