Tahiti’s Kenji Hotan will be heading to Dusseldorf in ten days time to compete in the Liebherr 2017 World Table Tennis Championships.

It will be a big step up for Hotan, who previously represented the Oceania region at the 2010 Global Cadet Challenge in Hyderabad, India.

“For me it’s already nice to participate to the World Championships. I don’t expect many wins, but I will be able to see some good table tennis players.”

Hotan is now living in France in the city of Bordeaux, where he is currently in his third year of university studying pharmacy. But he has been making sure to hit the tables and not just the books.

“I try to play at least three times a week. There’s also three different leagues: Departmental, Regional, and National. I am in Pre-National for individual and in my team we are in Regional 1.”

Hotan is part of a three person contingent from Tahiti heading to Düsseldorf. Stay tuned for updates of their progress as the tournament gets underway.
