Australia’s 2018 ITTF Team World Cup campaign has come to an end, with both teams falling short of the main draw.

Current European Women’s Team Champions, Romania, made swift work of the Aussie contingent. The Australians struggled to find their rhythm. With the score at 2-0, all eyes were on Jian Fang Lay to claw them back in to the game. But a comeback wasn’t to be. Elizabeta Samara had obviously done her homework on Lay and ended Aussie hopes in straight games.

In the Men’s Team Event, Australia couldn’t get a game on the board against Republic of Korea. The only consolation came with Helming Hu taking a game off Lee Sangsu before going down 3-1 (13-11, 9-11, 11-8, 11-6).

Team Australia now will turn their attention to the upcoming ITTF-Oceania Championships.

Check out the full results from the Men’s Group Stage, and Women’s Group Stage.
