Last month saw the 9th instalment of the Micronesian Games taking place in Yap from the 15-27 July. With 13 sports comprising the Games’ action there was something for everyone. Medals were awarded in sports ranging from baseball to spearfishing, with table tennis among the field.

It was Palau that came out as the dominating force in table tennis at the games, taking gold in all seven events on offer.

Ramon Gulla and Jeremai Watanabe were the standout athletes. Gulla led Palau to gold in the Men’s Teams before taking out the Men’s Singles and Doubles events. Watanabe was also an unstoppable force, taking gold in the Women’s Teams, Singles and Doubles. The pair then teamed up for the Mixed Doubles, taking gold to make a clean-sweep at the Games.
