Day 1 provided some tough competition for the Oceania athletes at the 2018 ITTF World Junior Table Tennis Championships in Bendigo, Australia.

Neither Australia or New Zealand were able to come away with a win in their team event group stage matches. But there was reason to celebrate.

Michelle Wu put Australia on the board against Serbia in their second match of the day in the Girls’ Team Event. Wu defeated Andjela Menger 3-2 in a solid performance. Meanwhile,┬áNew Zealand’s Hui Ling Vong defeated Marharyta Baltushite Belarus by a convincing 3-1 scoreline.

Matches for positions 9-16 will get underway at 16:00 local time, with the Girls’ Teams kicking off the action.
