ITTF-Oceania is pleased to announce that Samuel Davey has been appointed the SDB program manager for Tonga and Fiji. Samuel will be responsible for managing the implementation of the SDB table tennis disability program in Fiji and Tonga and to increase the capacity of Member Associations to deliver inclusive participation programs in targeted Pacific Island Countries.

Samuel is a sports lover! He grew up playing cricket and tennis. Although, in his teen years Samuel socially was playing table tennis. For nine years, he dedicated his time working at Netball Australia where he started working in reception one day a week and then worked his way up to Partnership Manager. His final role at Netball Australia was as International Development Manager. Through Australian Government funding he worked with Netball organisations in Tonga, Samoa, Fiji, and PNG.

Samuel applied for the SDB Program Manager position because he is passionate about the International Development space, having completed his Master of International Development Practice at Monash University. Sport for Development is something he is very familiar with and the opportunity to work closely with Table Tennis Federations in both Tonga and  Fiji is something he is looking forward to.

“What excites me most about my new role is to be managing a really meaningful and impactful program that improves the lives of people with a disability in the Pacific. It will be extremely rewarding to oversee the program and see the positive impact it can have on people. Sport has the power to bring people together and improve people’s confidence, so having a part to play in that is something that I’m excited for.” – Samuel Davey

Congratulations Samuel and welcome to ITTF-Oceania and SDB family.
